Do you have a topic suggestion for a future post? Perhaps you’re wondering how to use a particular databases or how to tell the difference between primary and secondary sources. Or maybe you’ve just read a great book in the library’s collection that you’d like me to mention so that other students can post comments about it.

Email me (Ms. DeGroat, a.k.a. the resourceress) with your suggestion. Include your name, grade level, and 1st block subject and teacher’s name.

Because the MW Library has only a one-person library staff, I am unable to provide virtual reference service via email, chat, or IM. Instead, my focus is on…

  • providing face-to-face research coaching (for classes, groups, and individuals) that empowers students to be skilled researchers
  • supporting learning by selecting and organizing quality resources
  • and nurturing intellectual curiosity and a love of reading.

If you have a question and you’re inside the school building, please move away for the keyboard and walk down to the library. If you’re at home, you may email me your question or a request for a research coaching session. I will respond as soon as possible, but sometimes it may take a day or two for me to get back to you. As with suggestions for posts, please include your name, grade level, and 1st block subject and teacher’s name.

Future enhancements to this site include a connected wiki and/or discussion board to provide a forum and archive for reference questions.

As you can see, I’m passionate about continually improving my practice and enjoy sharing with and learning from like-minded information professionals, educators, and technology experts around the world. Feel free to review the presentations page to check out my recent presentations.
