Stop by the library during lunch April 19-23 for a little Russian exposure (no parka required).  We’ll be celebrating Russian culture as expressed through stories and animation. All events start at 11:45am.

Monday, April 19 – Watch an episode of Cheburashka (Russian claymation) – a favorite of Mr. White’s.

Tuesday, April 20 – Gather around to hear the classic children’s story Teremok read by Mr. White who will explain how it reflects Russian culture.

Wednesday, April 21 – See How the Cossacks Discovered Football, an entertaining cartoon that reflects several European cultural stereotypes.

Thursday, April 22 – Behold the wondrously unique glass-panel animation technique of Yuri Norstein, a legendary animator best known for Tale of Tales and The Hedgehog in the Fog.

Friday, April 23 – Participate in a discussion of Gogol’s classic short story “The Overcoat” for a chance to win a Starbuck’s gift card.

In addition, Russian music will be playing in the library each morning before school and a poetry contest will be announced on Monday for which the prize is an iTunes gift card.
