Do you have an overdue library book that you’ve been reluctant to return because of the fines that it has accrued? If so, find it and put it – and a food item for the Central Virginia Food Bank – in your backpack to bring to school on Monday.
From January 12-21, the library is sponsoring a Food For Fines event to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank and students with overdue books.
Here’s how it works. For each overdue book, bring in one food item, preferably protein (like peanut butter, tuna fish, etc.), for the Central Virginia Food Bank, and Ms. Sellors will waive your fines on that book. Since long overdue books can accrue fines of up to $5, this is a good deal for you – and you get to help people at the same time!
