Dr. Ericson’s U.S. History students are embarking on an intriguing and challenging intellectual and creative problem-solving project: researching the pros and cons of FDR’s New Deal and then applying their research to decide what advice they would give President Elect Obama to consider in his first 100 days in office. The MW Library has several resources to support success on this assignment, and there are also some excellent resources available on the open web.
If your search of the MW Library’s online catalog (this is the link for at-school use), Destiny, includes several results with a blue E beside them (electronic sources) and you would prefer a traditional printed source, then try switching from a Basic Search to a Power Search by clicking on the Power tab in the upper right and limit your search to Material Type = book. The only things this might miss are items incorrectly categorized as Manuscript Language Material. To be thorough, conduct a second search for this material type.
The English department is sponsoring a new essay contest related to Native American Heritage Month to kick off the 2nd nine weeks. Your 500-word essay could win you a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card just in time for the holidays. Essays must be submitted by Nov. 21st to Mrs. Williams, Ms. Sellors, or your English teacher. For more details, read the sign beside the book display in the library. Good luck!
Need a video clip for a presentation you’re creating for an assignment, but prefer not to stream it live? Use a free online file conversion site like Zamzar or KeepVid. Do you have a favorite tech tool? Stop by the library to recommend sites to be added to the techtools tag in the library’s bookmark account.
