I’ve made a slight change to the Library Lunch Bites series in order to squeeze in a session about iGoogle.
This Friday’s topic will be Google Scholar and Google Uncle Sam.
On Friday, April 18, the topic will be iGoogle (cool, customizable Google home page - esp. for those who go ga-ga for gadgets)
Please come by the LIBRARY at 11:45 a.m. for these 15-20 minute sessions and feel free to bring your lunch (yes, a rare exception to the “no food in the library” rule).
For those of you unfamiliar with the iGoogle home page, here’s a sample:
As you know, Shadow Days for potential students are Tuesday through Thursday of this week. Because the library is a main stop on the related school tours, access to the library will be limited to 8:20-9:20 a.m. and lunchtime for these days. Normal library access will resume on Friday.
With spring break on the horizon, I’m looking forward to taking a couple books to the beach with me. I hope that you get a chance to escape the stress of homework, research, and college applications for a few hours by losing yourself in a good book too.
Search the MW library catalog for something interesting, or if you’re too busy to stop by the library this week and would like book recommendations from somewhere other than Amazon or BN.com, check out the following people-powered book review / book sharing sites when you do get a minute to catch your breath (but remember to protect your privacy when you do so):
These sites are also in the library’s bookmark account under the bookreviews tag (in the English bundle).
Are rising gas prices getting you down? Get more from Google Book and you might save some green and BE greener at the same time!
Even in a book with a limited preview, you might be able to view the pages you need without having to buy the book or drive to a library. Learn how to use this service efficiently and effectively - invest 15 minutes to attend the Library Lunch Bite workshop about Google Book this Friday in the library at 11:45 a.m.
For those of you who’d like to learn how to get more from your free Google account, the remaining Library Lunch Bites workshops will fit the bill. Sessions are held in the Forum during lunch. Here’s the schedule:
